Suggested sample of profile of a PANGO (PSTC)

Introduction. Population Services and Training Center (PSTC) is a non-government and not-for-profit organization and it works for the improvement of life status of poor and socially disadvantaged people by undertaking various programs and projects. PSTC began its operations in 1978.

Operations under UPHCP II. The PSTC has been contracted to provide primary health care and related services under UPHCP II in two project areas i.e. PA01 under Dhaka Municipal Corporation (DCC) and PA02 under Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC). Each of these areas function under the. respective Project Implementation Unit (PMU) of the city corporations. The PSTC has been involved with this project since its inception. The project area I (PA01) under DCC covers an area of xxxx square miles near the xxxx part of the Dhaka city that includes a large number of slums and shanties. The other project area i.e. PA02 under RCC covers an area of xxxx square miles located near the xxxx area of Rajshahi city. As per the pre-project census, the health services provided by the project to PA01 under DCC cover a population of xxx thousand. Out of this, xxx people fall under the very poor and xxx thousand people under the poor category. PA02 under RCC, on the other hand, cover xxx thousand people under the very poor and xxx thousand people under the poor category.

Facilities for Delivery of Services. For PA01 (DCC), the PSTC provides the health care services through 1 CRHCC and 6 PHCC, 1 VCCTC and 1 PECC. For PA02
(RCC), the corresponding figures are 1,5,1,1.

Achievements. The PSTC has been providing health care services on an average of xxx patients per month for PA01 (DCC) and xxx patients per month for PA02 (RCC). For PA01 (DCC), the average percentages of very poor, poor and paying clients are xx, xx and xx respectively. For PA02 (RCC) corresponding figures are xx, xx and xx respectively. Since the inception of the project, in spite of steady rise in the very poor and poor category of clients, the PSTC has been able to provide satisfactory services to its clients.
